From Care to Independent Living: Training for people new to personal assistance
Independent Living Alternatives is a user controlled disability organisatio, based in London since 1989 providing a comprehensive range of personal assistance services. The training for personal assistance users and personal assistants explores:
• The role of a PA
• The social model of disability in the context of personal assistance
• Following instructions: what does a PA do?
This e-learning course is offered over a two-week period and is an interactive opportunity to learn with other disabled people and personal assistants as well as the full support of a moderator.
"ILA’s training gives an excellent overview of the background to personal assistance; I enjoyed the case studies as I could empathise with them and found that it helped me to envisage the work I might do with a PA User."
Costs: £45 per person (discounts for group bookings)
